This module is designed to help you understand what assessment tools are. You will be guided through different assessment tools and how to be successful at generating evidence with those methods. You will also be introduced to concepts such as referencing and academic integrity.

The aims of this module are: 

To develop students’ academic skills To enable students to meet the requirements of study at HE in a variety of contexts. To develop the specialist study skills relevant to their course of study and professional aspirations. To develop higher-level cognitive skills.


You may have so far been a passenger in your education. This module is to shed light on that fact and enable you to get to the driving seat of your own education and learn how to achieve self-set goals and targets and develop skills that will help you beyond your programme of study and into employment.

The aims of this module are:

  • To provide a structured and supported process for students to progress towards becoming autonomous.
  • To develop the student’s awareness of their programme of study and their active role in its delivery.
  • To embed Student Partnership and Engagement within student learning, their own creative outcomes, & the development of their programme.
